                                                                                      Home at Valley Forge 1777-1778

Home at Valley Forge 1777-1778 is hand-embroidered, hand-quilted, hand-appliqued, hand-painted, hand-pieced together and also completely hand painted on the back with a quote from George Washington about his "barefooted and naked men" who served at Valley Forge's Revolutionary War encampment during the harsh winter of 1777-1778.

I had the honor of having it displayed at Valley Forge Visitors Center and Museum for the December 19th  "March-In" 2013 and 2014, commemorating the marching-in of the soldiers on that date in 1777 by George Washington.  The quilt was sold recently to the owners of a pre-Revolutionary War era home that has been completely restored, located in PA. I am delighted that it has found such a place "to live" and know that it will look wonderful in the colonial style room of this old house. In the below pic, re-enactor Dean Malissa very graciously posed as George Washington in front of the quilt

The idea for making this quilt, came from an original Valley Forge watercolor painting.

It has also been exhibited at the PA National Quilt Extravaganza in Oaks, PA. and was shown at the Art Quilt Elements International Show at the Wayne Art Center Wayne, PA from March 21 to May 3rd, 2014. This quilt won the Carolyn Lee Thresher Vehslage Award (2nd Prize) which was such an honor
